Expect Delays Tuesday (3/19) due to Derailment outside Jamiaca

Expect Delays Tuesday

LIRR customers are advised to allow extra travel time and check traffic reports Tuesday morning, March 19 as the LIRR expects that there will be train cancellations following the derailment of a non-passenger train west of Jamaica Station. LIRR personnel are working through the night to clear up the derailment & repair track damage, but AM Peak service will be affected. Check this web site Tuesday morning for details on delays, cancellations or diversions.

Basically a non-passenger train was moving through Jamaica and derailed just west of the station.  The crews are "working through the night" to re-rail the train and repair any possible track damage.  I'll have an update tomorrow as more information becomes available.
